Be the Change Worldwide provides training for our volunteers ensuring that they are well equipped with the skills required to be effective peer educators in the challenge of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and related health risks.

Our community Gap Year HIV/AIDS awareness projects are typically under-funded and under-resourced, our volunteers, and our resources, are always very much appreciated.  Our projects assist in social and economic development and address priority areas such as moral regeneration and social cohesion.  Our volunteers engage with the young people of the local community and provide essential life skills through raising HIV/AIDS awareness.

It is not a prerequisite for Be the Change Worldwide HIV/AIDS awareness project volunteers to have qualifications, specialist skills or work experience.  However a passion to promote better health through knowledge transfer and influencing behavioural change is of vital importance.

Be the Change Worldwide ensures that you are equipped with all the required skills to promote and deliver the HIV/AIDS awareness project.  You will discover existing skills as well as acquiring many new and valuable skills.

Community Setting

Be the Change Worldwide health projects are aimed primarily at previously disadvantaged groups, communities and individuals with a strong developmental approach.  The intended beneficiaries of our HIV/AIDS awareness projects are young people who have inherently been afforded very little exposure to good health practice.

Your Role as a Volunteer

During your Be the Change Worldwide HIV/AIDS awareness project you will communicate youth-friendly information for under-resourced young people in our partner school in a local community.  Through your role as a peer educator and your energetic presence at our partner school you will be adding immense value to the future wellbeing of under-resourced young people.

Your training will provide you with an opportunity to familiarize yourself with key health issues and the ability to communicate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.  You will also have the choice of including a sports coaching, environmental awareness and/or teaching and education experience in your project.

Project Flexibility

In addition to your Be the Change Worldwide HIV/AIDS awareness project you will have the choice of including an environmental awareness, teaching and education, performing arts, care work and/or sports coaching experience in your project.

Volunteer Profile

Be the Change Worldwide seeks individuals that are passionate and energetic with an enthusiasm for an adventure of a lifetime.  If you are a post-school or post-university gap year student, a university undergraduate or postgraduate, or a career breaker, our projects are ideally suited for you.  It is not a prerequisite for you to have qualifications, specialist skills or work experience but a passion to promote better health through knowledge transfer and behavioral change.  Volunteers must be 17 years of age and above.

Donation of Educational Resources

Be the Change Worldwide and with the help of our Gap Year volunteers also contributes towards educational resources, various teaching aides and the renovation of classrooms enhancing the educational environment and the exposure to good practice in healthcare to the children.  Our under-resourced partner school certainly does welcome any additional contributions or resources.
